History of Video Games

People have explored ways to play games on computers since the dawn of time. These early computer programmers weren't merely idling away their time or looking for new ways to amuse themselves. They needed to make games for practical reasons.

Computers took up entire rooms in the 1940s and 1950s, and were so expensive that only colleges and huge corporations could afford them. Most individuals had only a rudimentary knowledge of what these electronic behemoths could do, as well as a lack of familiarity with the types of mathematical equations that these machines were routinely programmed to solve.

What Is the Best Way to Read a Book?

Mortimer J. Adler's book How to Read a Book was published in 1940. In 1972, he and editor Charles Van Doren co-authored a considerably revised edition that provides recommendations for critically analyzing good and great literature from any tradition. In addition to the initial edition, the 1972 version covers genres (poetry, history, science, fiction, and so on), inspectional, and syntopical reading.

Part II: Analytical Reading (the third level of reading)
Adler explains how to read a nonfiction book to develop insight in this section. He claims that in order to get the most out of a book, three distinct approaches, or readings, must be taken. However, performing these three levels of readings does not necessarily mean reading the book three times, as an experienced reader will be able to do all three in the course of reading the book once. The readings are categorized as "structural," "interpretative," and "critical," in that order.
walking
The manner of transportation is the subject of this essay. The term "walk" has been redirected to this page. See also Walking (disambiguation) and Walk (disambiguation) (disambiguation).

A computer model of a human walking cycle. The head in this model remains level at all times, whereas the hip follows a sine curve.

Walking (also known as ambulation) is one of the most common ways for animals to move around on land. Running and other gaits are often faster than walking. With each step, the body vaults over the stiff leg or limbs, resulting in a 'inverted pendulum' gait. This holds true regardless of the number of useable limbs—arthropods with six, eight, or more limbs can walk. [1]
